Mania was the hunt. Sleep is the cage. A twisted lullaby and spiritual successor to Mania, Sleep flips the script. This time told from the captive's perspective. Where the original reveled in sadistic joy, Sleep simmers with exhaustion, resignation, and the faintest ember of defiance.
Where Mania grins with voltage and sharpened steel, Sleep hums low and tired. The cruelty remains, but the perspective shifts. The scream becomes a whisper. The predator becomes the captive.
(Verse)
Give me just one chance, give me only a moment to breathe
I'll give you water if you'll scream my name for me
I'll let you break my soul and
I'll let you take control, you'll see
Or even better, tell me that you'll play my game
But please give me this hope
I'll leave the chains off, take off all of the duct-tape
Oh, that you'll let me go
I'll let you run free, please scream, give a little chase
You hold my heart inside
I'll give you freedom, please don't go disappoint me
This masochistic life
I've got an itch for you that just won't let me be
And still I fall
It's like time slows down,
but the world keeps spinning round
Until I'm gone
I'll drag you way back down
to my corpse-filled underground
(Chorus)
So sing me off to sleep
You look so pretty, baby, through this scope I see
I'll never get to leave
But when I take your kneecaps out and watch you bleed
(Spoken)
"You don't have to hold onto me so tightly anymore"
I'll give you freedom
"I stopped fighting a long time ago"
"Just let me fade"
(Verse)
I can hear you through the walls,
I need only a moment to bleed
You can take a break if you just tell me that it hurts
Oh I will play your game, in the cards,
the table's rigged, I see
A little deeper cut, yeah, show me what you're worth
But please give me this hope
I'll leave the chains off, take off all of the duct-tape
Oh, that you'll take it slow
I'll let you run free, please scream, give a little chase
(Chorus)
So sing me off to sleep
We're gonna have a special moment here alone
I'll never get to leave
I wanna see what you look like as Blood and Bones
I'll never get to leave
I'll never get to leave
