"Mania" is the hunt. A chase-song with a smile, where mercy is a trick and the rules are written in duct tape. It is playful, it is cruel, and it speeds up every time you think you are safe.
Re-recorded and remastered in 2025, this Friday, October 31st Edition features new vocals and crispier instrumentals.
(Verse - Gloom)
I'll give you water if you'll scream my name for me
Or even better, tell me that you'll play my game
I'll leave the chains off, take off all of the duct-tape
I'll let you run free, please scream, give a little chase
I'll give you freedom, please don't go disappoint me
I've got an itch for you that just won't let me be
You look so pretty, baby, through this scope I see
But when I take your kneecaps out and watch you bleed
(Chorus)
It's like time slows down
But the world keeps spinning round
I'll drag you way back down
To my corpse-filled underground
(Verse - Blake)
You can take a break if you just tell me that it hurts
A little deeper cut, yeah, show me what you're worth
I'll leave the chains off, take off all of the duct-tape
I'll let you run free, please scream, give a little chase
I've got a sharpened edge with a yearning for your flesh
Amphetamines to keep your consciousness so fresh
Electric stimulation, turn the voltage on
Locked in this game together, darkness until dawn
(Chorus)
It's like time slows down
But the world keeps spinning round
I'll drag you way back down
To my corpse-filled underground
Until you're gone
Until you're gone
(Verse - Both)
I've got a secret, listen, I won't tell you again
I've got a special evening planned for you, my friend
I've dug a hole six feet out back next to the fence
It looks so cosy, really, you're one lucky man
I've got arsenic and lye I got today
I've sharpened all my knives and brought a new IV
We're gonna have a special moment here alone
I wanna see what you look like as Blood and Bones
(Chorus)
And with a buzz of a saw,
Oh baby we'll be playing God
I'll hold your heart inside
And have it beat out every cry
Until you're gone
Until you're gone
Until you're gone
Background
Mania did not begin as the track you know.
The first recording dates back to 2009. It was whispered into the microphone by Gloom in the darkness of the night. No call and response, no chorus. Just a haunting tale told plainly: a predator and their prey. The track was raw, unpolished, and dripping with menace. It was a secret, a ritual, a game played in the shadows.
Through 2018, the track saw several rewrites. Acoustic guitar added, strings orchestrated, synths layered; A track that had begun to come alive. This was the first version to feature the devious duo trading lines, turning the hunt into a duet. It shifted from solitary predator to shared ritual. The game became collaborative. The menace became musical.
By 2022, Mania found its full form. Synthwave pulses, plucked acoustics, driving rhythms, smiling brutality. It leaned into the theatricality, the dark flirtation, the spectacle of the chase. This was no longer whispered violence.
Halloween 2025 brought the latest iteration. The Friday the 31st Edition. A re-recording and remastering that sharpened the sound, tightened the performance, perfected the harmonies. Not a rebirth, but a refinement. Everything Gloom and Blake had learned and honed over the years culminated in this version.
With it came "Unplugged at the Cabin." An uncomfortably intimate, raw recording featuring just the two singers, an acoustic guitar and a string quartet. Breath, wood, and tension. Stripped back, less a performance and more a confession.
